DVD rentals July 1, 2010

As the library continues to face the challenge of making ends meet in an increasingly difficult budget year, the Board of Trustees has decided to change a long-standing policy and institute a rental fee for DVD’s. This fee ($1 for 1 week) will go into effect on August 1, 2010 and will only be charged for DVD’s. VHS tapes and audiobooks in any format will continue to have no rental fee. The hope is that this will be a temporary change and that our customers will support us in our decision, recognizing that the need is great and that we are striving to maintain our excellent level of service to the community.

It’s that time of year again – summer is here and off we go into another season of summer reading. The Summer Reading Club for 2010 has begun and will last for 6 weeks this year, until July 31. The Summer Reading Club is for boys and girls up to about age 12. To join, stop by the library, sign up, and get your reading folder.  Your folder will have your reading calendar, stickers, puzzles, and more. At the end of each week, we will hold a raffle drawing with a prize each going to one girl and one boy. To enter the raffle, simply READ! For each day you read for 30 minutes or more, mark your reading calendar with a sticker from your folder. At the end of the week come into the library with your calendar, and for each day you marked on your calendar, you may fill out a raffle ticket. So, start reading, have fun, and good luck!
